Open Architecture, as a design principle of Higher Education facilities, fosters symbiotic relationships within communities.
The three individual buildings that feature labs, classrooms, libraries, commons, and support spaces are all contained under one canopy that creates a cohesive environment that blends the indoor and outdoor spaces. The sloped landscaped roofs create outdoor environments for learning, wellness & movement, and recreation.
The three buildings are connected by bridges, allowing for spatial continuity throughout the campus.

The buildings are calibrated for the Miami climate, utilizing environmental measures to create a sustainable campus.
This diagram illustrates some of the sustainable design measures, such as the deep vertical brise-soleil panels on East & West Facades, the Roof wings shaped to capture rainwater and integrate PV panels, promoting natural ventilation and integration with nature.
The Loyola Academic Housing, opened in 2019, employs a sculpted facade with pleated stone panels to direct the occupants’ views out toward the Loyola University Campus and Lake Michigan.
The building sits at the intersection of W. Broadway and N. Sheridan adjacent to the Loyola University Lake Shore Campus. The building becomes a prominent and visible feature of the campus and surrounding community.
